Mental Health Awareness Week – what we’ve been up to

We’ve been busy supporting events around Mental Health Awareness Week:

Reading College Mental Health Awareness Week
Reading College held their MHAW at the end of April, due to their exam timetable clashing with the national event taking place this week. Wwe were asked to deliver a talk to students at the college; their theme was ‘destigmatising mental health’.

On the 24th April, our Outreach worker, Hayley, and Young Ambassador, Abbie, had a great day delivering two talks at the college on mental health stigma; exploring what it is, the effects it has on people, and ways we can challenge it. They spoke to around 60 students and staff.

John Lewis Staff Wellbeing event
John Lewis Broad Street held a staff wellbeing event on the 3rd May which showcased several local charities to staff at the store, increasing awareness of support available to them in Reading. No5 were invited to hold a stall, promoting our charity and services for children, young people and adults in our community! Our Fundraiser, Lorraine, and Outreach worker, Hayley, enjoyed hosting our stand in the staff restaurant, making connections and talking to staff.

Crown Prosecution Service Wellbeing and charity fundraising event
The Crown Prosecution Service in Reading are holding a staff wellbeing and charity fundraising event on the 17th May. Our Fundraiser, Lorraine, who is also a qualified Reflexologist, is kindly donating her time to provide reflexology treatments to staff at the event. All proceeds from her appointments will come to No5! Thanks so much Lorraine!

You can find out more about Lorraine’s reflexology practice and treatments here.
