Volunteer

If you are in training to become a counsellor but not yet ready for a placement it can be very beneficial to volunteer within an agency setting before starting a placement. We have vacancies on our reception area, in admin and data entry and analysis in our service so you can get a feel for how a counselling agency works before you start a counselling placement. You can complete the Volunteer application form or call us on 0118 901 5649 if you have any questions.

Volunteer Counselling Placements

If you are interested in volunteering for us as a counsellor in training, or if you are qualified and are interested in supporting young people please complete the Volunteer application form.

We have two main intake dates each year in October/November and January/February. You will need to be training or qualified as a minimum, at level 4/Diploma in counselling.   We do not require a particular modality and welcome applications from all trainings. Once you have completed the application form please email it to clinical.manager@no5.org.uk

We expect all volunteer counsellors to work on one rota which is three sessions between 4pm and 9pm when our agency is open for young people. You will be required to join a supervision group meeting twice per month and providing you with the minimum BACP requirement for supervision of 1 ½ hours per month. Also we would expect you to attend for Induction, CORE and Safeguarding Training before commencing work with us.

Please note

We do accept applications at other times in particular if you are already qualified and wish to work with young people gaining hours for your accreditation or are interested in gaining experience of working with young people (aged 10 – 25). Or wish to attend our Certificate in Counselling Young People for a reduced fee by working on a rota for us.

Once you are qualified, you can take our ‘Certificate in Counselling Young People’ training. This is based on the CYP IAPT MindEd online training, and our certificate consolidates your virtual learning with seven one-day workshops delivered by a qualified and experienced school counsellor. For more information please call us on 0118 901 5649 and speak to Helen or Catherine.
