No5 Lead Young Ambassador wins Pride of Reading Award!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our Lead Young Ambassador, Carly, has won the Pride of Reading Young Person of the Year award! The Pride of Reading awards recognises the best of Reading’s local heroes each year and offers 16 awards in different categories. The event is hosted by Chris Tarrant.

The awards ceremony took place on Friday 3rd November, at the Royal Berkshire conference centre, and our outreach coordinator, Hayley, and Director, Alyson attended with Carly. The award was sponsored by the University of Reading, who were also in attendance, and were thrilled with Carly’s win.

Hayley nominated Carly for the award earlier in the year for her outstanding contribution and community spirit through her work as No5 Young Ambassador. She has devoted over 200 hours of her time, during the last year alone, delivering positive mental health messages and support to other young people in the Reading area. She also keenly champions the work of our organisation, including our free counselling service for children and young people. We have recognised her dedication and ambition by promoting her to Lead Young Ambassador at No5. This has provided her with greater responsibility, by heading up the scheme under Hayley’s supervision.

She demonstrates a selfless commitment to sharing her personal experience of mental health difficulties, and her counselling journey at No5, to other young people, supporters of the charity, corporations, and local and national media.

We couldn’t be prouder of Carly for winning this award, and we are delighted that her hard work has been recognised publicly! Congratulations Carly!
