Mental Health Awareness Week Roundup!

We’ve had a really busy Mental Health Awareness week, so here’s the roundup of all the things we’ve been up to:

Carly and Abbie, our Lead Young Ambassador, chatted to Thames Valley TV about Body Image, the theme of the week. They discussed how the pressures of social media relate to body image, and shared their own experiences of body image issues as they grew up, as well as some advice they would give to other young people who are struggling with how they feel about themselves. Click here to see them in action!

We delivered a ‘Social Media and staying safe online’ workshop to staff at our Corporate Partner, Shoosmiths, where they discussed the risks and dangers that we face online and both how to manage, and avoid them, but also how to talk about these risks with children and young people.

Alyson and Carly spoke to members of Reading Abbey Rotary Club about the work that we do. We are delighted to announce that we have been named as the ‘chosen charity’ to benefit from the Rotary Club’s Garden Party this year! More details on that to follow!

We rounded off our Mental Health Awareness Week by attending Reading College‘s ‘Love Our College Mental Health Discussion’  where ourselves, and other professionals who work in the sector, discussed the issues facing young people with Health and Social Care students and A Level Psychology students.

Thank you all for having us!

We have had a fantastic week and have loved meeting and discussing the challenges facing our young people with you all. We are so excited to start building on the conversations we’ve had this week!
