Festive Film Event at Wokingham Leisure Centre

On the 22nd of December, Wokingham Leisure Centre are hosting a Festive Film Event! There will be free refreshments available and festive raffle to take part in.

  • 6pm-8pm- Deck the Halls

 

Winter Wellness Workshops with Together UK Reading

This Winter, Together UK Reading, alongside local creative practitioners, are running a series of free creative workshops to help you support your mental health and wellbeing. View their flyer to find out more!

Beam Wellbeing

Beam Wellbeing delivers 1:1 and group work Drawing and Talking sessions in many local primary schools in and around Caversham for young people aged 5+.

These gentle, child-led sessions enable children to explore their inner world using drawing, helping them to express emotions they cannot always access using words alone.

A safe space is created using the Beam Wellbeing value of consistency: ‘same time, same day, same place, same face’.

Drumming for Wellbeing

Berkshire Wellness Circle run two weekly drumming for wellbeing groups for anyone aged 18+. The sessions free to attend with a voluntary payment suggestion of £5.

Sport in Mind 

Sport in Mind delivers fun sport and physical activity programmes for Adults (17+) and Young People (9-16 years).
Their sessions are relaxed drop-in sessions, where you can take part for as little or as long as you like… and most importantly you don’t have to be super sporty or super fit!

Create Content and Resources with No5

We have an exciting opportunity for young people aged 13+ to get involved with creating content such as videos, blogs, fact sheets, and self-care resources for other local young people.
Young people tell us that hearing from other young people helps them to feel less alone with how they are feeling. That’s why we need your help to create content by and for local young people!

Soulscape – The Lounge

Soulscape run safe spaces for young people in secondary schools in Wokingham and Reading. The safe space provides the opportunity for young people to process, reflect, be listened to and supported through tools and coping strategies.

 Hub – Starting Point

Starting Point run a weekly drop in session, called the Hub, run by their mentors and staff team, for young people aged 11-17 and 18-25.

The sessions are led by young people and include opportunities to play UNO, video games, and take part creative art activities. During the 18-25’s sessions, there will also be opportunities to take part in workshops to support young people who are NEET.

11-17: Tuesday’s at 4pm

18-25: Wednesday’s at 12pm

Grassrootz Youth Clubs

Grassrootz have 2 drop in Youth Clubs in the Reading area, one in Caversham and one in Coley:

  • Every Monday 6pm -7:15pm for ages 7-11 and 7:30-pm for ages 11-16 at Hexham Road Community Centre – free
  • Every Tuesday 7pm – 8:30pm for ages 11-16 at The Milestone Centre, Northbrook Road, Caversham Park Village, RG4 6PF – £3 entry
  • Every Friday 6pm – 7:30pm for ages 8-11 years and 8pm – 9:30pm for ages 11-16 years at The Coley Park Community Centre, 140 Wensley Road, Coley RG1 6DW – £2 entry

 

Southcote Youth Club

A new youth club started on Monday 5 September, 5pm-7.30pm at the Southcote Community Hub, Coronation Square.

Young people can come along to chill, play games and enjoy the free pizza!

Sessions will be taking place each week on a Monday and are being run by Brighter Futures for Children with support from Southcote Community Association and Reading Borough Council.

Sync Youth Club – Grace Church Caversham

SYNC is an event for youth in secondary school years 7-11.

Cost: £2 (on entry)

SYNC was started in February 2017 to create a place for young people where they can connect to each other, connect to great role models and connect to the Christian faith.

It runs every other Friday during term time and it offers three different rooms catering to different young people.

BYTE (Big Youth Thursday Evenings)

A free youth group for secondary school aged young people (Yr 7-11), at Greyfriars Church in Reading every Thursday evening in term time. Doors open at 7pm, and finish at 9pm.
There is craft, music, games and a tuck shop – also a great chance to get to know other people in a fun environment. They are a Christian group and give space to allow young people to explore faith together through a short talk and songs. Eleven Seventeen – South Hill Park 

A free youth club and arts workshop for creative young people aged 11-17, where you can learn a new skill, meet friends and have fun!
Eleven Seventeen runs twice a week at the below dates and times Click on your prefered location for full timetables and how to attend!

New Meaning Berkshire

New Meaning provide further education in Berkshire for post sixteens as well as training and work experience for people with an EHCP. Their aim is to help young people to make progress with their learning and feel inspired about their future, becoming either work-ready or taking their learning journey onto the next step.

 

Job Club – Graft 

Graft have re-opened their job club which supports people with their applications online, and also give advice on CVs, interviews and more!
It runs every week in term time at 84 Queens Road, Reading, RG1 4BW aon the following days:
Tuesdays 10:30-12:30
Thursdays 1:30-3:30

 

First Days  

First Days support children, young people and their families by distributing school uniforms, travel items, toiletries, furniture, new baby essentials, toys, books and safety equipment.

Roundabout UK

Roundabout UK aims to reduce loneliness and isolation in the LGBTQ+ community through its location-based app looking at showing friendly organisations. This includes any org that supports the LGBTQ+ community not just LGBTQ+ focused orgs like prides but many other services such as sports teams, artists, performers and much more.

 Berkshire Unicorns RFC

The Unicorns are a team that is open to all (who are 18+) regardless of experience level, including those that have never even held a rugby ball. We provide developmental training for new players, offering guidance and support on basic skills through to becoming game day ready. There is also no barrier to entry for those who do not wish to take part in contact rugby as we also run a mixed touch rugby team and offer fitness only sessions. We also have a group of dedicated supporters and importantly a full social calendar! More info here

Reachout Youth Club

Weekly youth club for all LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-18 in Reading. Wednesday’s at 6:30, email reachout@brighterfuturesforchildren.org for more info!

SupportU 

A Leading LGBT+ help and support service based in Reading, servicing the Thames Valley Area. They offer a counselling service, hate crime reporting, domestic and sexual abuse support and a helpline. Find out more here!
