Placements

If you are in training to become a counsellor but not yet ready for a placement, it can be very beneficial to volunteer within an agency setting beforehand.

We sometimes have vacancies on our reception area, in admin, data-entry and analysis within our service enabling you to get a feel for how a counselling agency works before you start a counselling placement. You can complete the Volunteer application form or call us on 0118 901 5649 if you have any questions.

Volunteer Counselling Placements – Diploma Level

If you are interested in volunteering for us as a counsellor in training, or if you are qualified and are interested in supporting young people please complete the Volunteer application form.

We have two main intake dates each year in October/November and January/February. You will need to be training or qualified as a minimum, at Level 4/Diploma in counselling. We do not require a particular modality and welcome applications from all trainings. Once you have completed the application form please email it to our Clinical Lead, David via david.edwards@no5.org.uk .

We expect all placement counsellors in training to work on one rota which is two in person clients at 7pm & 8pm and two online clients at a time that you choose.

You will be required to join a supervision group meeting twice per month and providing you with the minimum BACP requirement for supervision of 1 ½ hours per month. Also we would expect you to attend for Induction, CORE and Safeguarding Training before commencing work with us.

Volunteer Counselling Placements to work with 11-17 year olds – post diploma training

If you are interested in building your experience of counselling with young people, we invite applications from those already qualified with a Level 4 Diploma, BA or MA in Counselling (any modality). We offer a post-diploma specialist training; ‘No5 Diploma in Counselling Young People’ for a reduced fee if you are working on a three-session rota for us.  This is a practical top-up training and requires you to be working with young people.

The training is based on the BACP Competences for working with 11–18 year olds and is Level 5 CPCAB accredited.  The programme offers experiential workshops and online study of the CYP IAPT MindEd. Visit the training page to find out more.

For more information about our Diploma in Counselling Young People email our Training team (training@no5.org.uk).

Our next training course will commence in September 2024
