The voice and opinions of young people has always been central to what we do and so we were delighted when we were offered the chance to apply for funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, distributed by The Blagrave Trust, to further platform young people’s voices.
This ‘Restart Youth!’ project seeks to speak to local young people and find out what they think they need from mental health services. We know that young people have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, and this is even more so the case for young people who are NEET (not in education, employment, or training) and who identify as LGBTQ+ and BAME.
No5’s Young Ambassadors will play a central role in this project – drafting and sending messages to local groups inviting them to get involved and will run 7 sets of focus groups this summer.
A summary report of their feedback will then be draft by participants and the Young Ambassadors and presented to our Trustees and The Blagrave Trust.
From this project we hope to learn what different types of mental health support local young people need, and co-curate these services with young people helping to shape No5’s services as we all recover from the pandemic and look to the future!
