Our in-school counselling

Our in-school counselling

No5 offers an in-school counselling service direct to secondary schools and colleges in the Reading area. This provision aims to offer easier access to counselling support for schools and their students at the point of need, and tackle barriers to getting support amongst young people by offering it within school hours and environments.

“Since having counselling at No5 I describe myself as a more aware individual; I learned to respect and care for myself, and manage my responsibilities and actions.”

What is counselling

Counselling offers young people a space to be listened to, without judgement. Counselling involves a client (the person coming for counselling) and a counsellor, setting aside time in order to explore difficulties a person is going through, which may include stressful or emotional feelings.

Our process for delivering school counselling:

Schools interested in this service should contact us at info@no5.org.uk

Our Schools Lead will visit the school to find out more about your needs.

No5 will interview and recruit a suitable counsellor with specific training in working with under 16s.

Our Schools Lead will meet with you again, to introduce your counsellor and discuss (amongst other details):

  • Appointing a School Link Person
  • Referral system and waiting list management
  • The counselling offer to students and/or staff
  • Confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Number of hours needed and when
  • An appropriate room for the counselling to take place in within the school

A No5 counsellor is assigned to your school and will work with referred students on a weekly basis.

The counsellor will work in partnership with the School Link Person to manage the needs of the counselling service and to monitor it's effectiveness.
